I've finally read 1st Cor and i really liked it! Some verses that stood out to me were vs. 8, 9, 10, 19, 25, 28 and 31.
Verses 8-10 :
"He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.
Divisions in the Church 10I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought."
Verse 19 :
For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."
Verse 25 :
"For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength."
Verse 28 :
"He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him."
Verse 31 :
Therefore, as it is written:
"Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
I liked in 8 how it basically confirms jesus will forgive your sins. its always nice to hear :) Also, vesre 19 was really interesting because of how he basically is crushing the "wise", and I loved how it closed with he who glories, let him glory the Lord.

Thanks for your post Josiah! I found this chapter to be very encouraging as well.
Some verses that I found stood out to me were:
Verses 4-7 :
"I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—in all your speaking and in all your knowledge— 6because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. 7Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed."
Verse 10 :
"...that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought."
Verse 18 :
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
Verse 27 :
"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong."
Verse 31 :
Therefore, as it is written:
"Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
My comments on these verses:
4-7 : Remember that in our speaking and knowledge we are enriched in Christ!
10 : Does anyone have a comment about what this verse means to them?
18 : Remember, do not feel dumb, foolish, shamed when you tell people about your relationship with Christ...because to most of those who do not know Christ, God's truth seems like foolishness and will always escape them until they come to know Christ.
27 : Never underestimate someone who appears to be "foolish" or "weak" by worldly standards...those may be the people that God uses the most.
Hey hey, here's my thoughts on two verses that stood out to me.
Verse 19 : For it is written:"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."
This is a cool verse because, obviously, it's so true! You can see it today. Scientists around the world still debate where humans came from, and they get so many theories worked up, it's ridiculous. It's cool to see how God totalled called that one.
Verse 25 : "For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength."
Aight, this is just sweet. It's like a complete contrast of black to white: if GOD were to be foolish, it would STILL be WISER than man's wisdom!
It's kinda like a burn on humanity, except more of a praise to God. It totally shows how God is indeed an AWESOME God.
